The
First Men's Garden Club of Dallas is a
non-profit educational organization formed in 1941,
incorporated in 1971 and affiliated with The Men's
Garden Clubs of America/Gardeners of America in 1950
and the American Horticultural Society in 2004.
Funds raised go toward programs including: Community
and school gardening projects, tree planting's and
educational programs.
In 2005 the club joined forces with the Dallas
Arboretum and Botanical Society to sponsor a new
collection of plants to be titled the Hardy
Palm and Tropical Plant Collection. This
unique collection will be the centerpiece of a new
program to revitalize areas that have not kept up
with landscape changes and new plant introductions
over the years. Visit the Dallas Arboretum and enjoy
this beautiful tropical setting. See more about our
work with the Arboretum at the link on the left
titled: Palm Garden.
In 2009 the board voted to change our status as a
male only organization. The club is now open to
membership regardless of gender.
